Researchers in Messina, Corleone, Trapani

Post by Susan »

We are looking for genealogy researchers in these cities to add to what we have already discovered about our families through our online searches. We are planning a visit to Sicily later this year, and would like to know more about our ancestors and their lives before our trip. Can anyone suggest how we should go about locating genealogy researchers in these towns? Family names include DeCaro, Cammarata, Bruno, and Mafera.

Many thanks,
Susan

Marty,

Our tree on ancestry is DeCaro- Doudell. Most of the dates from Corleone come from a relative on ancestry who said he contacted someone in Silicy. We did some recent research using familysearch to locate some birth and marriage certificates from Messina.

I was not able to open the attachment to your message. I think it said I did not have permission?

Thanks,
Susan

Marty,

Just amazing. We are so grateful. We have such a hard time reading the handwriting, but it amazes us that these records still exist.

Marty,

Again, thank you so much. We are trying to use the familysearch site, but have trouble finding the indices in the various volumes.

We are now trying to find the date of death for Andrea Bruno, born in Messina in 1856, married in 1979. We believe he died between 1883 and 1888 in Messina. You will see him on our ancestry tree. That is the other side of the family--from Messina.

Any tips for finding indices?

Again, we thank you for spending your time helping us reconnect with our family.

Unfortunately most of the records online of Messina are in allegati's which you have search through no indexes Italy, Messina, Messina, Civil Registration (Tribunale), 1866-1939 town of Messina. There are other records online from the Archivio di Stato di Messina 1820-1866 with indexes
