Looking for Pietro Giordano Immigration or 19000 Census Info

Post by scraig32 »

I am trying to find my great grandfather immigration information; This is what I know

Pietro Giordano was born September 8, 1877 in Santa Ninfa, Italy. This was his adopted name. His biological father was Michele DiStefano and his mother was Marietta Allegato. Since they had him out of wedlock he was given up for adoption.

I have found him on the 1910-1940 US Federal Census living in New York. I am unable to find him on the 1900 Census or his immigration information. His 1910-1940 census information says he immigrated in 1900. His wife is Antoinetta Coppola. Supposedly they were married once they arrived in New York.

He died january 9, 1955 in New York

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Suzanne

Can you post the 1910 Census, or a link to it?

Thank you for posting the link Marty. I feel like this is a tough one. As you know, with all of your help I have found all the way up to my 7x great grandparents on the other side of the family. I do have a little more background information if this will help.

Pietro Giordano was born in Santa Ninfa, Italy to Marietta Allegato and Michele DiStefano. Marietta was a maid and Michele was a rich baron's (Baron Francesco Di Stefano & Hippolita Perez) son. Since they had their children out of wedlock they gave 2 of their 4 childrenup for adoption. Pietro was adopted by Vincent and Angelina Giordano. ( Francesco Allegato, Guiseppe Galante, Pietro Giordano, Guiseppina Allegato)

Pietro married Antonietta Coppola when he arrived in the US. Antonietta's mother is Catarina Coppola. Pietro's brother is Guiseppe "Joe" Galante. You will see them all on the 1910 Census.

I had also checked the NYC marriage index and did not find them. That is why I was hoping you would post the 1910 Census so we could take a look :-)

Thanks for posting it Marty!

EDIT TO ADD:

On the 1910 Census, son Nick is age 5
Using the listings in the NYC birth index... this is POSSIBLY their son's birth
Giordano Nicola Jul 15 1905 6430 Kings

You can request this birth record (for a fee) and using the address on the birth record, you can search the 1905 and 1900 US Censuses by street address. Maybe you can locate them that way :-)

To request record -
