LOPOLITO/FRANZESE

Post by MegKiz »

I'm looking for information on 2 different ancestors. Vincenzo Lopolito and Rosa Franzese. The two were married in New York in 1892 and according to their marriage license both were born in Cosenza, Italy. I am not certain if that is just pertaining to the province of Cosenza or the town. I do not have birth years for either persons. However, Vincenzo's is sometime around 1871. Vincenzo's parents are Giuseppe Lopolito & Rosa Alitta. Rosa's parents are Carmine Franzese and Anna Camonica (not sure on the spelling since it is a little hard to read on the marriage certificate. Any help would be appreciated!! I'm trying to get as much info so that I can share it at an upcoming family reunion. Thanks in advance!

I believe Vincenzo passed on November 27, 1934. I found a death index for a vincent lopolito that died on that date in the bronx where they lived, but I have no way of actually viewing that record without ordering it and waiting 8 weeks to get it.

Here is the marriage certificate. I have looked at the archives in Cosenza website, but I cant seem to find anyone that would fit this description. Also the census has their birth years listed as 1872 and 1860, but according to the marriage cert they would have been 1869 and 1860 going off their ages.

Yes I wondered about that one too. Does anyone have any idea what the text says on the side of his name?

Marty, me too thinked abt this Vincenzo son of Rosa Lo Polito and father unknown
oh his military draft card, he was "dichiarato renitente".. he no presented in the Army for medical check up and enrollment..

so he was in other country...
http://88.59.143.158/ascs_web/streaming ... &id=799663
the document must be dated 1885-1886..
so if is abt the right Vincenzo... in 1885-1886 he was no in Italy...
I believe that the infos abt parents on marriage record could be no true ( as a well the Vincenzo age..) in Cosenza Archive it are no other records matching...

Has anyone had any luck with Rosa Franzese? I haven't been able to locate anything on her either.
