Glasblowers Si(e)gwarth in Vencia

Post by robin1860 »

Good evening,

ive got one family branch of my family who settled over to the USA, but before the family worked for a longer time in Venecia as glasblower.
His name is Ludwig Sigwarth and they arrived in Venice between 1842 and 1848, because the last child was born 1842 in the black forrest in Germany, and the first children born 1848 in Venice, Italy.
There might be birth of Johann Babtist 1847, Caroline in June 1848 and maybe Josephine 1844 too in Italy.
Because i have no experience in italien genealogy, is there any hint you can give me to research these datas ? Any churchbooks online available ?

thanks for your help

There are records online for Venezia for 1806-1817 and 1871-1930:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1928858
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2043809

For other records you can order microfilms online from FamilySearch and view them at your local Family History Center:

well, havent found them on familyserach, but my experience is, that they are not realy comlete.
If the records from my ancestor are correct, they got the following birthdates of childrens from the family:

Juno 1847 Johann Babtiste Si(e)gwart(h)
Juno 1848 Caroline

its mentioned that they were born in Venice, Veneto, Italy. I dont know, if this help, but maybe someone could have a look in the churchbooks.
thanks for your kind help

well, it seams that Glasblowery only was allowed at Murano, so there are only two parishs which could be the ones...
1. San Donato di Murano, 2. San Pietro di Murano

Does anyone have access to their churchbooks ?
