I have this date for my husband's grandfather being born in NYC or Newburgh NY. I've been relentless in searching for his birth certificate to no avail. His name is Arthur Benjamin OR Arthur Bernard Shepherd. Conflicting info on WWI and WWII registration forms and Social Sec Appl. Does anyone have any ideas or direction for me? :?

You might want to try ordering Arthur's Social Security Application (SS-5). That should have his exact place of birth and his parents' names.

I have located him in the SS Death Index in case you do not have his SS#. I have sent you a PM (private message) with that information.

You can contact the Newburgh Vital Records office to inquire IF they have a BC for him.
