Hi, I am going to Sicily late this month and would like to find where my grandfather lived. I know the street but do not have a house number. my grandfather Rosario D'Angelo was born in Ali Superiori on Oct 3, 1886, he had 2 brothers Giovanni born May 13, 1890: Carmelo, June 29, 1895: 2 sisters, Carmela April 16, 1905: Paula March 28 1907.
My gfathers does not have an address, I am hoping that I can find the addresses on his siblings birth or baptism certs. If anybody can help I would appreciate it.
Thank You,
Frank C.

Re: gfathers address
When I Google Ali Superiori I get results for Ali, Messina, Sicily, Italy. Is this the same place and perhaps the Superiori was dropped from the name at some point?
If so, there are civil records for this commune from 1820-1865 available online: https://familysearch.org/search/image/i ... %3D1935770
And from 1820-1910 on microfilm: https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... %20Library
So you'll have to order the microfilm to get birth records from the dates you listed.

Re: gfathers address
If the street is still on the map, go there and knock on doors (or just stand around, someone will come and ask what you want). Italian towns have a habit of renumbering houses frequently or even renaming streets. If the street is not on the map, go to the town hall and ask where it used to be. OR find some old person and ask them.

Re: gfathers address
Dear Frank,
The birth records are on-line at this site:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1887904
Italy, Messina, Messina, Civil Registration (Tribunale) 1866 - 1939, under ALI,
Nati 1866 - 1910. You will want to read the birth records of the siblings, but at this time they apparently were not using house numbers on this particular street, as I have observed. To make your search easier for you, here are the image pages for the siblings, under ALI, Nati 1866 - 1910.
Giovanni - Image page 1002
Carmelo - Image page 1327
Carmela - Image page 1866
Paula - Image page 1989
Regards,
Bette

Re: gfathers address
Frank,
Thought you might also like to look at this site. It shows that the street still exists in ALI. That's great luck, even if you do not know the street number of the house.
