Looking for surname Picco from Pratiglione

Post by lisazabalegui »

My great-grandparents came to the United States in 1893. The paperwork just says Italy, but I was always told it was northern Italy and Piemonte especially. Since I started searching I have found that their hometown was more than likely Pratiglione. I am hoping that someone out there has information regarding Picco family. My great-grandfather's name was Joseph Felix Picco and his father's name was Bernardo Picco and his mother was Dominica. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the website Lisa
Do you have more info on Joseph Picco where did he settle in the US?
Was he married and to whom? Date of birth That way researchers can go through records available here and work there way back

My great-grandfather was Joseph Picco, married to Albina (Albena) Turlatti. They came to the United States aboard the ship La Gascogne departing Le Havre. They immigrated to Colorado and had 10 children. They came to the United States in April 1893 and are registered at Ellis Island. On Albina's death certificate it lists her father as Tom Lurigliatto and birthplace as Procarion She was born on Aug 2, 1874.

Joseph's death certificate lists his father as Barney Picco, but that may be an error as he had a son named Barney. His mother is listed as M. Buffo. He was born Apr 2, 1866 and died Sept 26, 1917.

I think the dates of birth may be incorrect as they happen to be both the same month and day.

Hi!
Are your ancestors Felice (27) and Albina (19) Picco, arriving at Ellis Island April 10, 1893?
If so this is his birth record: Picco Felice Tommaso, son of Bernardo (son of the deceased Giuseppe Picco )aged 48, smith, and Domenica Buffo, (daughter of the deceased Giuseppe Buffo) housewife aged 35 born in Pratiglione, April 12, 1866

But where does "Joseph" come from?
Ciao

Marriage of Felice and Albina, in Pratiglione, March 22 1893
The spouses were both peasants

And sorry, Felice was born April 11, not 12 as I wrote in my previous post
