Battista/ Nardacci/ De Angelis family information

Post by Sja68 »

Looking for information on my grandparents family. My grandmother's name was Angela Natalina Battista born in 1895 in Carpiugo (Province of Rome). She lived in Maenza. Her father's name was Santucci Gio Battista born in 1850 and her mother's name was Raffaele De Angelis born in 1870. My grandmother arrived in this country through Philadelphia, PA. I believe she had a brother on that area. She later moved to Rensselaer, NY.

My grandfather's name was Antonio Sylvester Nardacci from Roccagorca. He had a brother Thomas two sisters Teresa and Bennede (sp). They came to Amercia and settled in Rensselaer, NY.

Looking for connections for our family tree.

Welcome to the forum! :-)

Do you mean Carpineto Romano, Province of Rome?

Do you have the manifest for Angela's arrival in Philadelpha? Can you post it here for us?

Do you know the name of Angela's brother to whom she was going?

As to your Grandfather...
There are currently 21 listings for NARDACCI in the Italian Phone Book in Roccagorga.

Perhaps you would wish to write to one or more of these "potential relatives" and inquire of the family?

Not sure if you have this manifest for Antonio Nardacci arriving NY 1905
Antonio lists his last place of residence as Maenza
He is joining his cousin Isidoro Macali at 28 Sheridan Avenue, Albany, NY
He is on line 2...
Also on this manifest from Maenza, on line 14, is Elenterio Cacciotti who is also going to 28 Sheridan Avenue, Albany, NY - to cousin Giovanni Palidoro...
AND on lines 18 and 26 - also going to 28 Sheridan Ave... and also from Maenza - passengers Nazzareno Coco and Pietro Paolo Cacciotti.

In the 1905 NYS Census (June 1905, 2 months after arrival) - boarding at 28 Madison Avenue... See lines 23 (Elenterio Cacciotti), 24(Tony Nardacci), 28(Peter Cacciotti)

If you believe that both/either of your grandparents were born in Maenza, you can write directly to the town to request birth records. Unfortunately, there are no online records for this comune at this time.
Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Leone XIII
04010 Maenza (LT)
ITALY

Tessa78' thank you so much for all the information. I don't know the name of my Grandmother's brother. I know he was some place in Penn. that's why she went there. I also have this information on my grandmother.

Yes, I have seen this manifest.

What you have posted is only page one. If you look at page 2 you will see her destination... if I remember... it says brother, Rocco.
It also identifies her place of birth as Carpineto in the last column.

Have you tried writing to the commune of Carpineto Romano?

Tessa, I just did the DNA testing on Ancestry.com. Will that lead me to any family members? I'm not really sure what information it will show. I just sent it in last week. Takes 8 weeks.

Thank you for helping me.

Hello Kathy, :-)

I do not know the particulars of the DNA testing process/results, but we have had visitors to this forum who have been "matched" with some specific ancestors. To what degree they are related can still require a genealogical, I believe. Many have asked us to find the civil registrations (births, deaths, marriages) for this relative.

Let us know what the DNA shows and we will help you search for that "ancestor" :-)

Here is some additional information about Genealogy in Carpineto Romano, Italy, the place of Angela Battista's birth... :-D
