D'Alessio/Candelma

Post by Jdaless »

Hi There,
I'm looking for relevant information to go towards a dual citizenship. At this point I have records of Stiliano D'Alessio (born in Greece) but marrying Maria Donata Candelma in Italy. I don't have exact place or time for now just that my grandfather, Andrew D'Alessio was born in Italy in 1888 and moved at some point to settle in New Brunswick Canada (he was married in NB in 1909). They also had another child, Lorette LaGace D'Alessio in 1912. Any help is appreciated!

According to his marriage certificate, Andrew was born in Greec, too:

just a suggestion.. I believe that the right italian spelling was D'ALESIO ( 1 S) and CANTELMI.. I believe they came from Abruzzo region, maybe Pescara area...

Thank you, Yes I meant to add I found more information that says it is the Pescara, Abruzzo. Our name is now spelled D'Alessio, so I will try searches with the spelling of one "s". It looks like both of his Marriage certificates and his birth certificate say Andrew was born in Greece and his last name is spelled Dalessio. But we have information that says he lived in Italy, in the region stated above - any idea how I could verify if he had an Italian citizenship?

if the his parents never renounced to italian citizenship, before of Andrew Birth, well Andrew had italian citizenship by blood right... and no problem if his Birth record was transcribed also in the parent's italian birtplace... that is the main proof abt italian citizenship..
Best regards,
