Can this be the family in 1900?

Thank you for the find.

That is Frank Rose or Rossi. I see the Death record says Napoli, but we don't have parish birth record on him to verify who his parents are. Especially his mother.
We have looked for the Marriage record and have not found it.

He died in Salt Lake City, Utah in May 1920. Looking for his birth record that is thought to be in Napoli 1845. Would like to know when he immigrated from Italy and on what ship and port he came to the USA?

All they really know is the emigration year was 1878.

Is it possible to access the military records for the years of 1863-1865

Thanks,

Trevisan, the military records are sorted by year of Birth, and each province have own archive of state and it is the repository of military records ( when availables) so we must know the province; on Death record it is wrote Naples.. but was so many Francesco Rossi born in the area... just the father first name: luigi, and it is no enough.... also finding the Birth acts of people born around 1845 in Naples or in the province, with the father named Luigi, how can we say it is this or that? Surely the date of birth written on the death certificate could be incorrect, almost in something.... on 1900 census he declared his birthdate Mar 1849...
so it is a mystery.. just I wish ask... you are sure, perfectly, that his surname spelling was Rossi?
and no Rosa, De Rosa or similar version...? You found it on the 1880 census? I found this record:

Franc Rose

United States Census, 1880

Name Franc Rose
Event Type Census
Event Year 1880
Event Place Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio, United States
Gender Male
Age 35
Marital Status Single
Race White
Race (Original) W
Occupation Furnace Hand
Relationship to Head of Household Son
Relationship to Head of Household (Original) Son
Birth Year (Estimated) 1845
Birthplace Italy
Father's Birthplace Italy
Mother's Birthplace Italy
Affiliate Name The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
Affiliate Publication Number T9
Affiliate Film Number 1045
Household

Role

Gender

Age

Birthplace

Jose Rose Self M 46 Italy
Maria Rose Wife F 44 Italy
Franc Rose Son M 35 Italy
James Rose Son M 26 Italy
John Rose Son M 25 Italy

I don't believe that Franc Rose is the son of Jose Rose, because it is impossible that Jose had Franc when just 11 old! So maybe he was the Brother of jose... what you think, it could be the person that you are searching for?

Trevisan:
1880 census seeming very probable abt right Frank.. I cannot find his marriage, but I found this interesting record:

William R. Boos

Ohio, County Births

Name William R. Boos
Event Type Birth
Event Date 12 Jul 1884
Event Place Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio
Gender Male
Father's Name Frank Boos
Mother's Name Emma Vincent
obviously the right surname must be Rose and no Boos..
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cc=1932106
this record give me a input abt surname spelling, because I found that some italian rose in Youngstown, well the right spelling was RUSSO, changed in Rose in USA...
I believe that can be also abt Francesco, because the "oo" in english is read like "u" in italian..
what you think? It could be Russo the surname?

Good fine, the surname could very well be Russo. I have an old letter from a relative that spelled the surname as Rossi and that's where we got the name from. If it is Russo then it changes the search. Will try to find the marriage record, suspect it would of been in Ohio. Very interested in finding Frank's dad (Luigi) and mother's (name) birth record.

Ancestry has their DNA autosumal test for $79 dollars. It expires this evening at that low price.
Try and connect with DNA to others of the Rossi Clan

I searched more, but the main option is to know the Frank's mother maiden name.. maybe on his marriage record the parent's names could be mentioned....
Just for let you know how much populars are the surnames Rossi and Russo...

and abt Russo... I found 3 Francesco Russo, all born in Naples, all with father first name Luigi, all born in Sept. month, and around the Birth year of your Francesco/Frank.
1: Francesco Maria Alfonso Luigi Federico RUSSO, son of Luigi Russo and Letizia De Bonis, born on 11 Sep 1847- Quartiere San Giuseppe, Napoli, Napoli, Italia
2: Francesco Paolo Giovan Giuseppe RUSSO son of Luigi Russo and Clementina D'Afflisio, born on 3 Sep 1848 -Quartiere Montecalvario, Napoli, Napoli, Italia
3: Francesco RUSSO son of Luigi Russo and Giuseppa Mattiacci, born on 03 Aug 1847 -Quartiere Montecalvario, Napoli, Napoli, Italia

I believe that, knowing the mother maiden name, we can have some good possibility to find his right birthplace....
