Anthony Bellasario Grazene

Post by Rickaotc »

Hello,

I'm looking for my grandfather's birth certificate.

His surname has been spelled a few different ways, but as far as I can tell it was Grazene when he was born.

We believe he was born in the area of Viletta Barrea.

Any assistance would be very appreciated!

Thank you.

Any idea of the date he was born? Many Abruzzo records are on line or microfilm before 1865. Otherwise you will need to write to the Comune.

According to what you wrote in your PM, he was born in 1891.
Grazene does not exist as a surname.
According to censuses of 1920 and 1930:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cc=1810731

he immigrated in 1901.
So, this might be his arrival manifest:

I also see name Belisario Graziani listed as father, so this should be the right one

This should be Antonio's marriage record:

Does wife's name match what you already know?

As Belisario was 61 in 1899, this must be his birth record:

http://antenati.san.beniculturali.it/v/ ... ewsIndex=0

Belisario Antonio Graziani was born on June 13th, 1837,
the son of Nicodemo, 32 years old, land owner, living in Villetta, and
Manuela Cesvi (?), 30 yo

You can find online at antenati.san.beniculturali.it records for Villetta from 1816 to 1865.
So, for Antonio's record, you'll have to write to the Commune.

This is awesome! Thank you so much.

Do you have a record of a Rachel (Ranchel?) DePalma? She was Antiono's wife. Born in 1870 we believe.

If she was born in 1870 the problem is the same as with Antonio.
You can only find records online from 1816 to 1865.
However, she was much younger than Belisario (more than 30 years, as you say).
You might want to look at indexes for births from 1865 going backwards...

Thank you Pippo!

I believe I'll need to see his birth certificate.

From what I have, Antonio's father Nicodemo was born in 1803. My grandfather Anthony was born in 1891. My mother, Francis Elizabeth Graziano Chamberlain was born in 1930. Does it appear I'm missing a generation?

Will the cumune also look for a marriage record if asked?

Thanks, Rick

I can't say about your GF's complete name, as we do not have his birth record, but his father was Belisario Antonio, born 1837. So maybe you got somehow confused between the two.
