Michelangela Cangelosi

Post by Athena »

I'm looking for help finding info on my newly found 3rd great-grandmother Michelangelo Cangelosi.
Michelangela married Pietro Failla, they had a son Joseph, who moved to Ny. Anyone with info on Michelangela and her husband would be great!

Thank you

Can you offer further details about Joseph: year of birth, town of birth, where he lived in NY, names for his wife & any children? That would help narrow the field a bit.

Hi Marty.

Suanj is the one whom found Joseph's parents for me.Joseph was born in Italy but immigrated to Ny, where he lived until he died. I have info on him I'm now wanting to find anything about his parents and maybe siblings.
In the info suanj gave me it said he was born 10.29.1880. Suan J sent me links but I can't read Italian.

Athena,

If you want to go further on your own, you really should learn how to extract information from Italian civil records. You do not need to know Italian but you do need to know how to recognize and translate key elements in these records, and how to find and use the yearly indexes.

Here are some links:

Your local library should also have books on tracing you Italian ancestry.

OK. According to that post, Michelangela is Joseph's grandmother; Pietro is Michelangela's son. That changes things.

I had hoped to find the Allegati bundle for the marriage (1869 #9) so that you might have approximate ages for Antonio Failla, Michelangela Cangelosi, Antonio Prestianni and Concetta Garbo, but bundles 1-9 for 1869 appear to be missing.

As suanj suggests, your best bet for finding additional relatives is in the Castelbuono civil records. Look for other Failla's in the marriage records, and see if their parents are Antonio Failla and Michelangela Cangelosi. If you do find a marriage, see if the matching Allegati bundle is present -- that may give you more clues for going further back in time.

Good luck!

VotM,

I can verify that the Allegati bundle #9 for 1869 appears to be missing. Just finished looking for it.

Hi..

No Michelangelo is his mother, not grandmother.

If that is the case, then the record suanj located is not for the person you wish to find.

But in the other post you directed me to, you noted
Athena wrote:Pietro Failla married to Domenica Prestianni, they had the following children, Guiseppe (my great-grandfather) Antonio, Concetta, Lorenzo, and Vincenza.
...which pretty much says that Domenica is Giuseppe's mother and Pietro is Giuseppe's father; suanj did find a Michelangela Cangelosi who is Pietro Failla's mother, which means Michelangela is Giuseppe's grandmother.
