Naturalization of Dominico Lombardi

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Naturalization of Dominico Lombardi

Post by JamesM »

Dominico was born 5 Feb 1894 in Italy and passed in Connecticut on the 24 Oct 1948.
I have a listing for his naturalization as 22 Nov 1940 but I'm not sure if it is correct as the 1940 Census he is listed as AL. Maybe 22 Nov 1940 is his application for citizenship?
Could someone help me verify this?
Also his wife Maria Ricci, could I have help in locating her naturalization?
She was born 23 Jan 1910, Italy and passed in Connecticut on 24 Jan 1999.

According to this naturalization index card, Domenico's naturalization certificate was issued 22 November 1940

His Petition # is listed on the card. Papers were filed with US District Court in Hartford, Connecticut.

Here is his Declaration of Intent to Naturalize - 8 March 1937 in Hartford, CT

AND*** Here is his Petition for Naturalization - filed 7 March 1940

The Petition # 29139 agrees with the Petition number on Domenico's index card above.
This is the last step before a Naturalization Certificate was issued (in this case 22 November 1940)

AND*** Here is the Certificate of Arrival.

This would have been issued after his Declaration proving that he entered the US legally.
They would have searched for the manifest and when they found his name would have made a notation on the manifest (a set of numbers indicating a certificate of arrival had been issued)
According to the Certificate of Arrival, Domenico Lombardi arrived on 15 February 1912 on the SS Adriatic

Thank you so much.
FamilySearch is not showing the images and just dates.

Also, may I ask about a Raffaele Vallera?
He was born approx 1875-1885 and his wife's name was Maria Pompani, Bompani or something near those.
I am not able to see his naturalization on FamilySearch either. Maybe he naturalized in 1945 if this is the correct Raffaele.

Where did he reside?

Edit to add...
Could this be your Raffaele Vallera? Wife's name is Nazzarena Bompana (according to this Massachusetts marriage record)

Name: Raffaele Vallera

Birth Year: abt 1877
Birth Place: Italy
Marriage Date: 4 Jun 1905
Marriage Place: Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA
Age at Marriage: 28
Father: Sabatino
Mother: Filomena Falcone
Spouse: Nazzarena Bompana
Spouse Birth Place: Italy
Spouse Age at Marriage: 23
Spouse Father: Luciano
Spouse Mother: Camilla Ontonucci

Here is the Petition for Naturalization (in Connecticut) for the Raffaele Vallera mentioned in the above marriage in Massachusetts. The dates of marriage are the same. In the naturalization, his wife is called "Maria"
