1830 or 1840

Post by rp76226 »

This link purports to be the births for the year 1840 in Racalmuto, Agrigento, Sicily.

However, the actual documents indicate the year as 1830. Which is it?

The 1840 records can be found at film #1803, and 1803, suppl. 3

At 1803, suppl. 2, there appear to be records for 1830.

I don't agree with T. I believe the records are all for 1840. Even in the first section of the records for 1840, from record 121 to the end of that section, the year on the printed form changes to 1830, yet the dates and record numbers are in sequential order. At the end of supplement 2, there is an index in which the Puma in question is listed. On the first page of that index, there is 1840 at the top, and there appears to be no gap in the pages alphabetically. In supplement two, there are also records in between where the year on the record was changed to 1840. Look at records #156, 157, 158, 165, and 180, for example. For some reason, 1830 forms were used for the other records, but to me it seems they are all 1840 births. Even in the index at the end of supplement two, there is a name like Mule' Santa for January. (it's the second name under the letter M). If you go to the actual birth birth in the first section of births for 1840, the date on her record is clearly written as quaranta.
