Can't Find Resina Birth Certificate

Post by apatterson96 »

Hey everyone.

I've been trying to locate the Italian birth certificate of Carlo Carino, born November 16th, 1883 in Resina, Italy to Clementina Rega and Carlo Carino. Although familysearch has uploaded birth certificates for Resina during this time period, I can't locate Carlo at all. Here is a link below to the exact image range he should be in:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=1043384

It is worth noting that Resina was renamed to Ercolano during the 1960s. Also, my family told me that Carlo was orphaned when he was relatively young and was sent to an orphanage in Rome. He eventually returned to the Naples area and emigrated to the US in 1906. I attached his Declaration of Intention below. Also, he is supposed to have one sister (name unknown) that settled in Chicago at some point. I am not sure where to proceed from here so any insight would be appreciated. I have been unable to locate the death certificates of his parents and am awaiting a reply from the state archives of Naples.

Thanks!

Thank you for the input, Marty. I actually just found Carlo's marriage certificate from New Jersey! It confirms his parents' names in Latin, but also lists the Chiaia quarter of Naples as Carlo's birthplace. I am not sure why the discrepancy with Resina exists. Since I sent a letter to the state archives of Naples about a week ago, maybe I can send an email with an update of the quarter that Carlo is from.

You could also search for his baptism record in the Chiaia parish, which I believe is San Giuseppe a Chiaia. For the civil birth record, the contact information for Napoli is here: http://www.comune.napoli.it/flex/cm/pag ... gina/36450
