Divencenzo Family

Post by akkasha3 »

I'm trying to help my husband and mother in law find their ancestors. I'm needing ANY info that anyone has on a Carmini and Giacon Divencenzo from possibly around Naples,Italy. They are my mother in laws grandparents. Supposedly after the family immigrated to the U.S. They changed their last name to Moore. We are unsure as to the reason why though and are searching for any info about the family and why the drastic name change. Any help and or suggestions as where else to search would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your reply! I apologize that it has taken me so long to get back to you. I showed my mother in law the info u sent me and she's pretty sure that the first set of info u sent was the correct one. Do u have any more info on that particular Carmine divencenzo? Anything that u have would b greatly appreciated! We were really surprised to not only get a response but to actually have it be the one we were looking for on the first try. Thank you for that and whatever other info u can get for us!

all the records posted are abt same family, same persons, just the name are mispelled on Ancestry.com, but no doubts that are abt same family:
Carmine Antonio Di Vincenzo ( full name) and Giocondina Di Vincenzo nee Di Michele, both born and married in Rionero Sannitico town...

so if you confirm that it is the family of your ancestors, the best way for to the civil records, is to try in LDS microfilms:
Registri dello stato civile di Rionero Sannitico (Campobasso), 1809-1899 Rionero Sannitico (Campobasso). Ufficio dello stato civile
Registri dello stato civile di Rionero Sannitico (Campobasso), 1809-1899 Rionero Sannitico (Campobasso). Ufficio dello stato civile
Births, deaths, marriages, banns, marriage documents, miscellaneous documents, citizenships.

Rionero Sannitico in the past was in Campobasso province, currently in Isernia province, both the provinces are in Molise region:

Giocondina Di Michele with children Mariano and Celeste arrived in USA in 1898, joining at husband Carmine Di Vincenzo in NY; in the trip also Costanzo Di Vincenzo, brother in law, 45 old, same final destination

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Giacondina Di Michale
Name: Giacondina Di Michale
Arrival Date: 29 Dec 1898
Birth Year: abt 1876
Age: 22
Gender: Female

Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Aller

between the 1898 and the 1900 the family moved in Ohio....
hoping helpful,

You said to access the LDS microfilms. How do I go about doing that? I have verified with my mother in law that this is her grandparents and she is really excited. She is unsure as to wether or not her father was born here or in Italy and she's not sure of his real birth name as he changed it. So we are wanting to be able to see birth records and all. I would appreciate any help you can give me in how to access the LDS microfilms like you suggested. Thank you so much for all the info you have given us so far!

Another quick question for you, my mother in law said she had been told that they have royalty in their family and was wondering about Castle San Vincenzo and the fa,ily history on it.

You can order microfilm copies of the vital records for the your ancestor's towns from [url= http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... et_fhc.asp] your local family history center of the mormon church

Ordering Microfilm

1. the FHC (=Family History Center of LDS) does not have all the microfilm in their possession.

2. You have to order the microfilm which takes 3-4 weeks for it to arrive.

3. a little fee roll for 30 days of viewing time.

4. If you need to renew the microfilm, also little feee for another 60 days.

5. Microfilm must be viewed at the FHC.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... aq_fhc.asp

very helpful...

abt the second question, I believe no royalty, however by civil records you can read the profession of your ancestors and if they had some royalty, but I have some doubt abt that...

best regards,
suanj

Mr. Carmini DiVencenzo-Moore & Mrs. Giacon (Giocondina in Italian spell) Dinidrele - DiVincenzo, who arrived in US abt 1896 and his 2nd wife Anna? arriving in abt 1903)

Carmine Di Vincenzo was my Great Grandfather too. I never met Federico. My Grandmother was his sister Eta (Edith). I haven't been able to find any information on their parents or grandparents.

Hi Nonna1022, Did you ever find your information? Carmine was my Great Grandfather too. I remember Aunt Edie well. She and my Grandmother, Lucy (Campanizzi) DiVincenzo were the best of friends. Let me know if you still need info...

Carmine Vincenzo and Giacondina are my Great Grand Parents. They never changed their name. Their son Federico may have changed his name to Ed Moore and lived in Chicago.

Here is a link to their graves. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/126 ... e-vincenzo

Hello, Did you get an answer to this question? I just got a notification about it today.
I am a DiVincenzo and can help. Maybe we already corresponded, it's been a while ago! Denise
