Yannucci family name-need help

Post by Robb1821i »

I am attempting to do my duel citizenship for USA and Italy. I meed to find birth records for the great grandparents. Dominic Yannucci and Maria or Mary Bernardo. They were born 1879 and 1883 respectively. I do not know where they were born. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! :-)

A few more details would help.

What records do you have from USA? Arrival? Naturalization?
Can you tell us where they settled? The names of their children?
Did they have any siblings in the USA who had immigrated before them?

It is likely that Domenico's surname was originally IANNUCCI...

EDIT TO ADD:

Possible WWI Registration Card
DOB - 4 March 1878
Born in Italy (specifies Naples)
Residing at Bandman Ave, Jamaica Queens.
Working for LIRR as track foreman.
Wife - Mary

Yannucci sounds like a diminutive nickname for Sebastiano.

This looks like a possible naturalization record for Domenico - Same date of birth as I posted in the WWI card.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... AQPJH-3DBR

This indicates that he was born in Sant'Agata de' Goti, Benevento, Campania.

Sorry guys. His son's name was Frank Thomas Yannucci (my grandfather) and Frank Thomas Yannucci (my father). They lived in Jamaica Queens. I have found that naturilization card already, though I don't know how to obtain an official copy. I have been told to check out ancestry. I don't have thw monthly plan. Is it worth it?

His WWI Registration card lists 5 March 1878 - but I did not find a birth act for that date... In fact, there was no birth act for Domenico Iannucci in 1878 or 1880.

Here is the POSSIBLE birth act of Domenico Iannucci in 1879 in Sant'Agata de' Goti.
#154
Dated 10 October 1879 - birth on 7 October 1879
Father: Pasquale Iannucci, 32, farmer residing in Villaggio Lamonia(?).
Mother: Catarina del Tufo, his wife, farmer, residing with him.
The child was gven the name Domenico.

NOTE: This Domenico was a twin to Antonio Iannucci whose birth act follows on the page. (#155)

*** For dual citizenship purposes, you will need to write directly to the Comune of Sant'Agata de' Goti to request a CERTIFIED copy of the birth act.

There is a birth listed in the Index in Sant'Agata in 1882 for Maria Rosa Bernardo (no Maria Bernardo in 1883), but unfortunately, the page with the birth (#87) is missing from the images. You can also write to the Comune of Sant'Agata for this act.

Here is the NYC Marriage Index for Domenico Yannucci and Maria Bernardo.
You can send for this to see if it holds more clues.

You should write in Italian (helpful links below) and include YOUR photo ID and an email address should they need to contact you. Send no money. If there is a fee for copying or mailing they will contact you. The records themselves are free.

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Municipio, 1
82019 Sant'Agata De' Goti (BN)

Tessa78 thank you! You have helped me so much. I have to ask more though, how do i view and request Naturalization records. An attorney I spoke to stated there is a 1920 Naturalization record for Domenico. The one you posted doesn't add up. At 5'11 I am the shortest male in my family. Supposedly Domenico was around the same.

The 1914 Declaration of Intent that I posted was considered "first papers" on the road to citizenship.
I have not found any other naturalization papers in my search. In the 1920 US Census, Domenico has listed for citizenship "PA" - which means he has first papers, not naturalized yet. If naturalized, the census taker would have stated "NA."

If the attorney states that there is a 1920 Naturalization record for Domenico, why does he not provide it to you?

You can request a naturalization search at the NARA site.

Tessa78, they offered a free consultation where they gather enough info to have a good idea, then if you decide to pay up and move forward you can get the info.
I don't have $6k to toss around unfortunately.
