Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can translate a birth certificate from Italian to English. My great-grandpa's name was John (Giovanni) Calderaro, and I know he was from Caccamo, Sicily. After hours of research, I was able to find his birth certificate online (I am 99% certain it is his - based on date of birth and birthplace). I found a website that helps me to translate some of the standard boilerplate language for birth certificates, but I'd like to get a full translation.

Hi, Marty
The poster was looking for Giovanni (John) Calderaro, but posted an image of Giuseppe Calderaro (which you translated.)
I think the poster may have posted the wrong birth act.
#13 on the next page, referenced by Paola may be the correct one.
Here is the link to Giovanni Calderaro, born 15th January and presented on 18 January. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947613
Record #15
1893 Jan 15th in the town of Caccamo presented on the Jan 18th Giovanni Calderaro son of Vincenzo Domencio Calderaro age 26 farmer and from a natural union not a relative
Marty,
I am sorry that I posted the wrong picture/record, and that you subsequently did a lot of research off of my error. I knew my great-grandpa was born in January of that year, so I assumed he would be among the first entries. When I saw "Calderaro", I automatically stopped because I assumed that in such a small town there wouldn't be more than one "Calderaro" born in a year. I guess I was wrong.
Thank you Paola and Tessa for noticing my mistake!

An Italian novel for kids called "La Freccia Azzurra" (The Blue Arrow) says that all the children in the world wait for Christmas Eve to get presents from Santa Clause, but Italian kids are the luckiest in the world because they get presents again on the 6th of January by the Befana. Who is the Befa...
