Hello all,
Looking for my greatgrandad, last name Dubini. I know he came from Lombardia but can't find the exact place where he was born. To make it harder, he was born before 1866.
Any clues?
Thanks!
Mariah
DUBINI
Re: DUBINI
Hi Mariah,
Can you please provide his 1st name and approx year of birth? Did he immigrate to the US? Do you know when? Where he settled? Wife's name & any children names? What documentation do you already have for him?The more information you can provide, the better chances for finding information on him.
Waiting to hear from you.....

Re: DUBINI
Hey jscm!
Thanx for the fast reply!
His name was Giuseppe, emigrated to Argentina around 1875. We are not sure when he was born, we think was in 1858 or 1859. When he left Italy he was still single. I have his wedding and death certificates but nothing said about his birthplace. According to L'Italia dei Cognome, the name does come from the Como region, where we suppose he is from. I ve written to several parrishes with negative results. FamilySearch gives Cermenate and Como as possible places, but they have no registry of him.
So im quite lost!

Re: DUBINI
If you don't find him on the site that wldspirit provided, I think you should still try & get his immigration to Argentina information.
Although a guide to Jewish research in Argentina, this site should point you in the direction to get the information.

And since "Brujajos" is a professional genealogist, do pm her. She has great advice.
Good luck in your research!

if you have his wedding record, you dhould find his age and hid parents names.
With his parents name you can try to contact Archivio di Stato di Como, where there are saved the military draft card.
This kind of document will bring you to the right date and place of birth
Archivio di Stato di Como

Hello all!
Thanx a lot for all the advices!
I've checked all the records available here in Argentina, but didn't find anything useful, only the age and nationality ("Italian")in the certificates, so i can't even be sure of his exact birth date.
Suanj, those Giuseppes you mention would have great chances of being my ggf, but they were already married when they arrived.
I 'll write the Archivio di Como, wish me luck, i need it!

Re: DUBINI
Hi mariah, yes already married, but this database start from 1882 and are all emigrants arrived in Buenos Aires port, so your ancestor came before 1882... however this Dubini surname is also in Ticino italian (Italian Switzerland).... so you wait the Como Archive reply and after you can to analyze better the search.. regards, suanj
