Sottile Family

Post by scorpione »

I am looking for information on my mother's family. All that I know is that her father was Dominick Sottile and I am not sure if he was born in America or in Italy. I do know he spent the vast majority (or all) of his years in Kingston ,New York. The home town was in Calabria and I believe the town was Realiano. I know that mom's brother visited relatives there about 20 years ago. Any idea where I can find out about this side of my family? Thanks.

Draft registration.....looks as if the town of origin is same, birthdate is off from the SSDI, but I know with my own grandmother, the SSDI has incorrect dates listed.........

I'll try for you...damn imageshack! I think they changed the program. Do you also notice how ancestry loads slightly differently now?

Give me a few minutes..

Suanj and wldspirit,

You are both treasures! The Domenico who went to Seattle is not him. The USA records (8 children is correct). What I really want is the history of his family in Italy. I have used the LDS and gotten great records from Italy for my Grandpa on my dad's side. Are there records available from Italy through LDS for Rogliano? Do I need to go to the province of Cosensa.I thought they were from Calabria. Is that in the province of Cosenza?

Thanks to all on this great site. Joe

Microfilm is available, as to parents names, you will need to pull a source document to discover this, a ships manifest may also list the name of one or the other.
