Looking for Cocchi and Breveglierei, around 1880

Post by fumblepdi@yahoo.com »

Good afternoon to everyone. I hope you are all doing well today.

I joined this forum because I am seeking information about my wife's Italian ancestors. Our children are fascinated by our family tree project.

My wife's great great grandparents were Ernesto Cocchi and Ambolena (or "Lena") Breveglieri (or "Breveglierei").

Ernesto was probably born in San Giovanni in Persiceto, Bologna. His birthday was February 11, 1879. He emigrated to the United States around 1900, and he may have returned to Italy several times.

Lena was born somewhere in Italy around 1887. She may have stayed in Italy during Ernesto's first visit to the United States. I presume Lena and Ernesto were married in Italy, because I could find no marriage records under their names in the United States.

By 1910, Lena and Ernesto were raising their children in Springfield, Massachusetts. Their children included Alice, Dante, Frederick Mario, Walter, Mario Luis, Amando (or just "Mando"), and Louis. Alice eventually married a man named Alton Burton. Mando was my wife's grandfather.

There were at least one other Cocchi family living in the same area at the same time, but I do not know whether or not they were Ernesto's brother's family, or if they were cousins.

Ernesto died in Springfield in 1958, and Lena died in 1973.

For me, the first thing I would like to learn are the names of Ernesto's parents and Lena's parents. And then I can continue my research. I would also like to know if they had any siblings.

Thank you all for reading this, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
