Surname: Lubrano - from Calabria, Naples, Procida

Post by JenChiarenza »

My name is Jennifer Lubrano-Chiarenza and I am just beginning to research my Italian roots. I am not exactly sure where to begin and would appreciate any advice you could offer. My grandfather, Antonio Lubrano, I believe was born in Calabria around 1898, although some family members say he was born in Procida. He came to this country in the early 1900's and settled in the Bronx. He married my grandmother around 1919, Rose Savino-Lubrano, of Naples. I know very little about my grandfather and his family, since he died very young - 49 years old of a massive heart attack and my grandmother maintained limited contact with the Lubrano's after his death. Thank you for your kind assistance. Sincerely, Jennifer Lubrano-Chiarenza - Palm Beach, FL

Nuccia - Thank you so much for your quick reply. I do belive the first Antonio Lubrano you found (based on his WW1 Draft Registration Card) may be my grandfather. My mom confirms the address listed on the draft card, as well as the name of the listed relative - Anthony Ambrosini - who was my grandmother's uncle. We thought; however, that he died before 1950 since he was 49 years old at the time of his death -- we may be wrong. Is there any way to locate a death certificate? He had a couple of brothers - Vincenzo was the name of one brother. Gracie mille! Jennifer Chiarenza
