Manno and Nicolicchia
Manno and Nicolicchia
I had such success with the last few lines that I decided to try another pair from Italy and see if you've got any other ideas for me.
I am looking for my wife's g.Grandparents:
Biagio Manno and Ninfa Nicolicchia
I found their US Immigration (Ellis Island) information
Biagio married, travelled w/ 1 child
From Palermo, arrived 1901 on Trojan Prince
Date of Arrival oct 24 1901
Ninfa married, travelled w/ 4 children
From Palermo, arrived 1902 on Spartan Prince
Date of Arrival Jul 22 1902
I have nothing on their parents or siblings. Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
Thanks for the reference information VJ and SUANJ ...
I believe that is him, though I need to check the reference closer (the year he is born seems to be off, but the spouse, children, and location are correct).

Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
VJ: Awesome stuff ... I do know that Ninfa is listed as born in 1869 which would make her too old on the 1905 Sicilian Prince, but the listing for Palma Nicolicchia is VERY interesting (right age for a mother or aunt) ...

Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
Bob,
I agree manifests are fascinating. Pretty quick way to find possible relations if they're going to the same place! Lot's of possibilities...
Having problems looking at Hoboken census for 1910. The pages are pretty hard to read. It would be nice to find some of these folks living near each other ...
Please let us know if you need anything tracked down (confirmed), esp on ancestry.com
Thanks again, Valarie

Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
Been checking in and out and notice you've made lots of progress on your search but you never mentioned if this is the correct family in the 1930 Census. If not, I can delete the info. If so, there is a 1920 Census for this family..nuccia wrote:Could this be the 1930 censu info?

The 1930 census is also correct then becasue they're the same persons, same birth years...just living in a different part of NJrfornal wrote:The 1920 one is correct ... just got home from work and had time to check against my database ... need to get everything updated ... back in a bit.
Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
Yep ...
Sorry about the confusion; the age 60 to age 67 over 10 years got me ... that's what I get for trying to do this stuff just before eating lunch. I've got some terrific clues that one of Jennifer's relatives just sent us. I should be able to get to them sometime early tomorrow.
Good Night All!

Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
OK, got some interesting notes that I can't tie in quite yet, but it leads me to believe that some of the things found yesterday were on track ...
Ninfa and Biagio's Children:
James Frank Manno; note by name "Believed came to USA in 1902"
Philip Manno
Lucy Manno
Felicia (Alice) Manno
John Manno
Joseph Manno
Rose Manno
Frances Manno
Mary Manno
... on the same page to the right of Ninfa are 5 names (Mother, Father, Aunt, Uncle, Brother, Sister ... can't tell at the moment) ...
Lucia Nasta - Vincenzo Nasta
Giacomo Nicolicchia
Rosaria Ovinch
Paolo Nicolicchia
... I tried to keep them in the order listed on the page.
In the notes: Rosaria Ovinch "English name; believed to be a Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen of England."
Paolo "believed to be a manufacturer of furniture for ocean liners."
Thanks for everything ... ties in VERY WELL!

Re: Manno and Nicolicchia
Also, I'll be attempting to get a copy of the following, as well and may need some assistance in translation:
From: Vincent Tomaselli ...
"... notes, believed to be written by ... Biagio, that document the Manno fmaily travels to and from Palermo, and dates of sibling births, deaths, marriages, etc."
Supposedly, (my wife) Jennifer's aunt has a copy of these notes ... wouldn't that be incredible history to get a hold of!
