Pirro of S. Giovanni

My grandmother has provided me with very scanty information about her paternal family, but I'd like to find more for her if I can about where they lived and where they came from in Italy. Her father's name was Anthony (Antonio) Pirro. The information on his parents is as follows:

mother: Rosaria (nee Dolce) Pirro, b. 1873 in Roccasecca. Arrived in USA 1905, with five children, plus baby Antonio who was born on the ship.

father: Benedetto Pirro, b. sometime 1860-1865 in S. Giovanni. Arrived in USA 1905, with wife and children. His occupation is listed as stone mason, and he was accompanied by two brothers, Rocco and Alexander Pirro. (*a log record shows a Beradino Pirro from "Roccatecca" arriving in 1899 age 33, but this is believed to be a transposed entry and incorrect*)

All of the above information is from Ellis Island records and information gathered from some of the older siblings. I don't know where to look in order to learn more about the family, or how to reconcile the discrepancies in my great-great grandfather's records. What should I do next?

Have you gathered all US documents and if so, what have you gathered?
The next step after this would be collecting records from Italy, or if you are lucky, perhaps the Lds has microfilmed the town of origin.
Could you provide a link to the manifest, as well as mention the state in which they resided.

3 May 1910 Census shows this family living at 9 N. Bleeker St Mt. Vernon, Westchester County, New York:
Head: Bernado Pirro 45, stone cutter, immig. from Italy 1900
Wife: Rose 35, immig. from Italy 1905. This is their 1st marriage, married 17 years, 8 children, 6 living.
Daughter: Camalei 14, immig. from Italy 1905
Daughter: Gena 10, immig. from Italy 1905
Son: Thomas 6, immig. from Italy 1905
Son: Toney 4, born in New York
Son: Albert 2, born in New York
Son: Adolph 3 months, born in New York
Brother: Louis 28, stone cutter, immig. from Italy 1905

What's interesting is this family that lived around the corner on the next block at 15 North Bond St.
Head: Rocco Pirro 31, mason, immig. from Italy 1900.
Wife: Julia 26, immig. from Italy 1905. This is their 1st marriage. Married 3 years, 1 child.
Son: Arthur 2, born in New York

That is interesting.......if in fact this is the correct family, the Pirro men all list profession of stone cutter/stone mason......
one of the men list Roccasecca as place of birth, and the census for Bernard list immigration of 1888, wife of 1890........

Keep in mind, family memories may not reflect factual information.

That is certainly the correct family, all the correct uncles, aunts, and Bernardo's brothers. The discrepancy between the dates of immigration confuse me a little bit, but I take it that is not unusual. For example, the 1910 census has more accurate dates of immigration (c. 1905) for Rose than the 1920 census does (c. 1890). Is there a way to reconcile those records? Or should I expect a little grey area among various records, especially the further they date from the original event?

I don't have access to any documents from the US, except the SSDI records for all Bernardo and Rose's children (I've found all but two), and Toney Pirro's death certificate.

After having viewed many thousands of LDS records nothing surprises me when it comes to inaccuracies of dates, ages, given names and even surnames. Many parents even got younger with the birth of each child according to the ages given on the birth acts

!

In 1910 Rocco Pirro lived at 15 North Bond St. in Mt. Vernon. The 1920 census shows Bernard living across the street at 16 North Bond but by this time, 3 Jan 1920, Rocco Pirro age 41, stone mason was sharing with another family a rented residence at 173 Eagle St. Albany, NY and he gave his immigration date as 1890 instead of 1900.
His wife, Julia age 36, is recorded as immigrating in 1895 rather than 1905. Both reportedly became citizens in 1903. The children living with them were:
Arthur 11
Paul 7
Albinno (Albino) 4
Rocco 1 month
All of the children were born in New York.

What is the best way to go about finding a marriage record for Bernardo and Rose? That's acutually what I'm searching for. I wanted the name of the Church where they were married, if that can be unearthed.
