Hi Alunia,

Welcome to the forum.

I see that your in Poland. Did your Barcis family immigrate from Italy to Poland & settled there? Do you know when (year)? Where?

What documentation do you have on the family? Any birth, marriage, death records?....Polish records usually will show place of origin for a person(my experience with Polish records).

Here is a lnk to informaion for the city of Barcis, Italy.

If you will provide more specific information, we maybe able to help more.

Hope to hear from you.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately I can't tell you a lot about family BARCIS in Poland besides the fact that they have lived in Poland since the beginning of 19 century at least. The family that I am learning about lived in Rybna, near Czestochowa in Poland and that is it. I know the place Barcis in Italy and I was just wondering if they could have anything in common with people from Italy. How and where could I check any Italian Barcis emigrating to Poland, maybe even further down the history with Bona Sforza from Italy, the Queen of Poland. You never know right?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Alunia,
Thanks for getting back to us.
No, you never know! But the only way to be sure, would be to trace the family backwards (from present to the Queen of Poland).

To do that, have you consulted any resources form the LDS Church (Mormans)? They have filmed genealogical records around the world and may have your "Rybna" on microfim.....These one of these the correct RYBNA?

1. Rybna
Austria, Galizien, Rybna

2. Rybna (Brzeg)
Poland, Opole, Rybna (Brzeg)

3. Rybna (Kraków)
Poland, Kraków, Rybna (Kraków)

And do you know if your family was Greek Catholic or Roman Catholic or another religion?

Hello,
thank you once again for your interest in my case. The place that I was talking about is none of the 3 you mentioned. It is Rybna, near Czestochowa which was under Russian annexed territory, in Silesia province. The family was Roman Catholic.

In case I find out something more regarding this family I shall let you know.

Hi Alunia,

Ok, I think I got it! Rybna was in the old province of Katowichie & after July 18, 1998 is in the new province of Katowice??? Hope this is correct. My ancestral town is in the province of Malopolskie.

You may want to check what parishes have been filmed in the Diocese of Czestochowa by the LDS Church (Mormans).

Here is a link to the films.

Here is a link to locate your nearest LDS-Family History Center.

I have to warn you, that although the LDS Church has filmed records for many parishes in Poland, many have not been released to the public, yet!
Mine included, but I found the parish priest very helpful in providing genealogical information (still need to find out when my great, grandparents died.) & a friend also got her Polish priest to allow a high school student to do her family tree using the church records.....very different then what you hear about the Italian priests.

Here are some more links that maybe of help.

I really hope some of this will be helpful. Good luck in your research & do keep us posted....Would really like to know if I've been "talking" to a descendant of the Queen of Poland :!:
