Surname Gizzi or DiCarlo

Post by fourlarsons »

Hello,
I am looking for any information regarding the Gizzi or Dicarlo surnames. My family lived in Frosinone in early 1900's and through WWII. After the war they moved to France and then back to Italy and finally to America.
I know some of family still lives in Italy but I am not sure where.
My grandfather was Guiseppe Gizzi. My grandmothers maiden name was Mary DiCarlo.

Hello Marie,

Here's a driving map from Frosinone to Gioia (also posted at another Gizzi post)

Driving Map

I too have ancestors with the name Gizzi (pronounced Jeets-see) also from the same area but closer to Avezzano... north of Frosinone..

You can find Gizzi in Carfang's database (great collection of info which helped me years ago)...

my greatgrandmother's (maria appolonia) maiden name was gizzi.
her family is from gioia sannitica in caserta.
she emigated to us and lived in new jersey from 1901 to 1914, and moved to western pa. where she lived until her death in 1958. she also had a brother, giacchino vincenzo gizzi, who emigrated here in 1910 and lived in chautauqua county new york at least through 1930 census.
