Help with Family history Calabrese

Post by Calabrese81657 »

I have been trying to find out information about my family and when they came to America and the town in Italy that they come from. Unfortunately my Grandfather, Grandmother, Uncle and my Father all died before I was 14 so I was never able to get accurate information. My Great Grandfather Ralph Dominic Calabrese was supposed to come from Calabria but I am not sure when. His son Ralph Dominic Calabrese Jr. and my father Ralph Dominic Calabrese III were born in the US (California). Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Ralph Dominic Calabrese IV.

P.S. I did some searches on this forum but I haven't found anything that helps yet.

Can you verify that the 1930 census record is correct for your grandfather, grandmother, father and aunt? Head of house Ralph states father born in Italy and mother in New York. Might be important in checking other records. Do you know your great grandmother's first and maiden name?

Hi Ralph!
Could you also tell us which records belong to your family?
It may help us track down more records - leading to
hopefully a ship manifest or military registration card
with town in Italy.
Thanks! Valarie

Did your great grandfather die in the US? If so, the death certificate may have the names of his parents and some clues of their origins. If not, get your grandfather's birth certificate (you have an estimated year of birth now of 1899 and a state). Your grandfather's certificate may have relevant info. on your great grandfather, which will lead you another step further down your family tree.

When searching for a ship manifest, you may find this helpful to correctly identify their given name as opposed to the Americanized version.....
