Hello, thank you for responding to me. My mother just told me yesterday that her father Vincenzo Mirra from Benevento was a Carabinieri. He rode on a horse she said. What is a Carabinieri and is there a way to locate any records of him being a Carabinieri?

Hello,
in Italy we have several kinds of Police corps

Polizia di Stato (State Police)

Carabinieri, kind of military Police corp, is the oldest in the nation, it belongs to Minister of Defense

www.carabinieri.it (only italian version)

Guardia di Finanza, it is like IRS

Polizia Penitenziaria, Correctional office corp

Polizia Forestale, Enviroment Police.

Carabinieri have many due, on of them is riding a horse.

You can find informations about your ancestor to the State Archive of the province where he was born and used to live.

I hope it helps, bye Riccardo

Hello, my name is Charles Parente, Jr. I am the grandson of Vincenzo Mirra. He came San Giorgio La Montagna now called San Diorgio del Sannia province of Benevento, Italy. He was born on August 26, 1889. The Ellis Island web site shows he immigrated from Naples, Italy on April 16, 1913 on the ship Mendoza and arrived in New York on April 30, 1913. I have a copy of his birth certificate and it states his fathers name was Giuseppe and his mothers name was DeStefano Maria Grazia. The certificate states on the top Comune di San Giorgio Del Sannia, Provincia di Benevento. I would also like, baptism, and any additional information on his parents. Again I would like to see the military information to show his son my uncle David.
You could send the information to Charles Parente, Jr. 500 Center Street, Duryea, PA 18642
U.S.A.
Thank you for your time in helping me.
Sincerely,
Charles Parente, Jr.

Heloo Riccardo, I received information on my grandfather Vincenzo Mirra. I think it is his military information. Could I scan the information into my computer and send it to you to translate?

Thank you very much for your help.
