Prison Records

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Please see one of the messages to me from Riccardo.

Hello,
in Italy we have several kinds of Police corps

Polizia di Stato (State Police)

Carabinieri, kind of military Police corp, is the oldest in the nation, it belongs to Minister of Defense

www.carabinieri.it (only italian version)

Guardia di Finanza, it is like IRS

Polizia Penitenziaria, Correctional office corp

Polizia Forestale, Enviroment Police.

Carabinieri have many due, on of them is riding a horse.

You can find informations about your ancestor to the State Archive of the province where he was born and used to live.

I hope it helps, bye Riccardo

no, maybe no right... if in Militar court of ROMA no result abt sentence court on MIRRA Vincenzo .. well I said that perhaps in the CARABINIER army they could be have some data.... but we don't know where Mirra Vincenzo was in Carabinieri Army ... it is no listed.. only Benevento District.. maybe Riccardo can to think is right to write in Benevento- Carabinieri and if they can to have some paper abt this record.... I don't know if they have the archive in the place or if all papers are in some other archive, but always militar archive... no STate archive, because you already have the Ruolo Matricolare by state Archive and this is all that you can to have abt Militar service by State Archive...
