Need some help please

Post by Gina501 »

I need some research help please!

I cannot find anything other than a record of passage and a WW1 draft card for my ancestor. His name was Ernesto Scarani and he was from Pecorara, Piacenza. He was born on August 18, 1888 and came to America from LeHavre on April 22, 1911.

I would appreciate anything you can find on him. I seem to be stuck, or do not know how to research properly yet. THANKS!

Is this the correct census?
Looks like a 1920 immigration year?

Gina,
On his WWI Draft card it shows he served in the Italian army, so there should be a military record available.

Thanks Biff. I missed that. I found his WWII draft card but not this one. Thanks. I will write to Piacenza for his Italian military record. I am familiar with them!

315 E 104th St

today, that area is known as Spanish Harlem, prior to that it was known as Italian Harlem. There is a wealth of information on the web on the history of Italian Harlem. I have ancestors that lived there at one time.

great site Denman. Believe it or not, Ernest and Mary's son Henry died 10 years ago and when he died he was still living in that same apartment.
