Palestini, Palestine, DiMichael, DiMiceli from Giulianova

Post by tigerlillya »

[uI am currently tracing my grandparents' families, and have gotten as far back as my grandfather, Biagio Palestine and his parents. They were born in Giulianova, Italy. Biagio was born there in 1891, came to the US in the early 1900's, then settled in Buffalo, NY where he died in 1957. His mother's maiden name was DiMichael (Americanized). If someone could please help me with anything (siblings, deaths, etc), I'd really appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time.

Hi Carole,

Try to give as much complete info as you can so people on the site can help you out

Was your grandfather married if so what was his wifes full name, what are the full names of his parents and did they also come to America? If so did they travel with him or did they come separately etc.

This can help people find the manifests and possible relatives they were meeting in the USA and it will help to find census records that may contain important information for your search.

Elizabeth

Good morning Pink,

When I click on the manifest only the top heading of the image shows up.

Try it again and copy paste the option at the bottom of the upload page image that says direct link.

Well, no problem....

In the second page of the arrival manifest it shows he was going to meet his brother Pasquale in Bellaire Ohio....
We must wait until Carole tell us if this is the right person....
.... but I don't find Censuses for this Biagio... (??)
Ciao!

Thanks for all the posts! Yes, that IS my grandfather! He was born in Giulianova in 1891, married Maria Serio (born 1898), came to the US then settled in Buffalo, as I've said before. I do know that Biagio's parents' names were Francesco Palestini and Vincenzia DiMiceli (sp?). I take it he had atleast one brother, Pasquale. One of my aunts told me that she thought he was the baby of the family, and that he was the only one of his siblings who went to the US....(she didn't know about Pasquale). I had looked up some films from Family History Center, but since they're all in Italian, I can't read anything...lol. I'm most curious about Biagio's siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. Thanks so much for everything.
