Hi,

Was Pietro his first name or last name? What region, province or town was he from? Was he married if so do you know his wifes full name (maiden) and did they have children? Were they married in Italy or US were the kids born in Italy or US? What year did your grandfather come to the US?

The more detail you can give the easier it is for people on the forum to help you.

Hi, his name was Pietro Antonio Pittaccio, and his mother's name was Mary. She remarried again, and her husband was my grand-father's step-father. They had other children also. I think he still has some family over there, I just don;t know where. He came over to Camden, New Jersey, where he met my granmother. Her name was Sadie, she was from there. I think they lived there for awile because that is where my father was born. His name is Peter too. They also have two other sons, Guido and Richard. They have a daughter, Theresa also. My grandparent's are deceased now but I am planning to visit Italy some day and hopefully want to meet my grandfather's family, if they are still around. If you can help that will be great. Thank you guys, Gina :) I live in Wilmington, Delaware..

Gina -
Here is a map that shows where the surname Pittaccio is present. If you put your cursor by the area it will give you the name of the possible region your grandfather may have come from.

http://gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/genera.html

Piemonte
Lombardia
Toscana
Abruzzo
Lazio
Puglia
Sicilia

Edit......added 4th childs name

I just want to make sure I have this straight. Your grandfather was Pietro Antonio Pittaccio and he was born in Italy?
Your grandmother was Sadie, do you know her maiden name? Was she born in Italy or Camden, NJ?
Your grandparents had 4 children named Pietro (Peter), Guido, Richard and Teresa (Theresa)? Were all the children born in Camden?
Pietro Antonio Pittaccio's mothers name was Mary (Maria), married twice, first marriage to Pietro's father second marriage to Pietro's stepfather?
Mary (Maria) never came to the USA?
Do you or your dad remember Pietro talking about the region or town he was from?
What year did Pietro come to USA?

Hi Gina,

It's nice talking to you too, but I'm from Illinois. You will find people from all over the world on this site and all very helpful.

If you look at the left side of the posts, under the persons avatar, you will see when they joined the site and where they are located.

I can almost guarantee that you will see posts on your thread from people that live in Italy.

One question I forgot to ask - about what year was your grandfather (Pietro Antonio) born? What year did he die and what town and state?

Hi, again, its me, Gina. My grandmother's maiden name was Scarfo. I am not sure if she was born in Italy or not. My grandparents had 4 children a daughter also, Theresa. My grandfather's mother died in Italy along with his real father and step-father. And I think he was from Abruzzo, is that how you say it? I do not know what year he came to the U. S. they never told me. He passed away in 1983, in Wilmington, Delaware...

Hi Delagirl!

Can be your grandfather??

Name: Pietro A. Pittaccio
SSN: 717-09-5395
Last Residence: 19805 Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, United States of America
Born: 22 Jan 1906
Died: 13 May 1995
State (Year) SSN issued: Railroad Board (Issued Through) (Before 1951

If this record is correct I think that the 1930 census posted by Biff is the right one.... the year of birth matches....

Laura, not to worry :D !
Working on a manifest.
Really interesting one in 1917, but lined off
Looks like D'Onofrio & D'Ercola...

the correct ages

edit:
Does the town look like Ripa Teatina (Chieti Abruzzo)?
