I've not had any success in tryng to find these two families in the 1901 census even athough I have the correct address from a marriage document..dated 8th August 1903
On their marriage certficate it says that Antonio Ciccone(father's name Giovanni -bootmaker) and Maria Cristina De Filippis ( father's name Thomas DeFilippis- labourer) all lived at 120 Friendly Street Deptford. The church they were married in was 'Th Church of the Assumption' in the district of Greenwich in the county of London
Be grateful for any help

Emmy
Antonio Ciccone doesn't appear to be in Deptford in 1901.
Was he born in Italy?
Do you know the approx year?

Re: 1901 census England
Thanks Valerie
YES I do think its them although Tommaso was born in Italy in Oct 1855 and the age almost matches that with Maria Cristina too she was born Italy1883. they had another daughter Mary Angela born in St Pauls Deptford London 26th April 1888 but since then I can find no trace of that child or Tommaso's wife -Fortunata Soave.(Just wonder if they had died) I do know that Tomaso eventualy went back to Italy he was there in 1921
Antonio Ciccone was (Ithink) born in Italy in 'Potecorvo?' in Sant'Elia Fiumerapido This was on one of his ships manifests when he went to USA (he was 25 yrs old in 1903)
It says household schedule No 81 (is the name of the actual street never mentioned on these census forms?)
(I do know that Friendly Street does exist I found it on an old map)
Many thanks for all you help Valerie

Emmy, does the link to the census work?
The street is on the left side of the census page.

Re: 1901 census England
Valerie Yes it works I was so busy reading the information
I didnt notice the link.
It is the same address. I'm beginning to think that Antonio Ciccone may have been a boarder with them at a later dateand even Antionio's father is mentioned on the wedding certificate it doesnt mean to say that he was living here he perhaps could still have been in Italy.
Because neither Forunata's name or the child born in 1888 (Mary Angela)is mentioned here on this census I'm begining to wonder if maybe both her and that child had died because I have found no evidence of any other children after that date?
Thank you soo much Valerie I think I need to go and have some lessons on how to find census birth etc information Must be doing something wrong! or maybe its just my computer that's not doing what I want it to do

Re: 1901 census England
Hey Emmy !
Perhaps Fortuna went back to Italy?
Did they also have several other children?
The free Birth Marriage Death Index
on ancestry appears to be pretty complete.
I couldn't find Fortuna or Mary Angela
on the death index. The search on the
1891 census didn't turn up either family

using the location you gave w/o a name.
I just looked at the folks born in Italy .

Re: 1901 census England
Thanks again Valerie
I have copies of the birth certifcates and the death certificates for the children you mentioned . As I said their first child was born in Italy in 1883 and then they had the other two children, born in London, who both died very young and finally they had Mary Angela n 1888 and no births registered after that year . It could be, as you suggest, that Fortuna having lost the previous children perhaps did go back to Italy with the youngest child but I wonder why she would leave Maria Cristina, who would have been still quite young, in London with her father.
I'm going to send an email to my 'new found' far-off relations in California to find out if they know anything about this.
(My 'jigsaw' re my research is almost complete just those few missing pieces that becomes an obsession when you cant find them. Probably a lot to do with the variation in the spelling of their names)
Valerie many thanks for taking the time to look all that up for me its very much apprectiated.
Emmy
Sorry I made a mistake withe the mothers first name it should have been Fortuna
