Hi Angela,

Using the exact spelling of the surname only gave 3 manifests. There has to be at least one more for Francesco and at least one more for Giuseppe. Giuseppe's 1909 manifest show's he's been to US before.

Francesco Antonio Maiuto age 27 1913 manifest- shows he's been in the US before

Giuseppe Maiuto age 30 1913 manifest - shows he's been in US before

page 2

Giuseppe Maiuto age 26 1909 manifest - shows he's been in US before

Maybe Francesco and Giuseppe are people you're looking for?

Elizabeth

Morning, Elizabeth.

I located three other subsequent manifests for the same Giuseppe based on nearest relative in Italy.

25 Oct 1921 on the Arabic
29 May 1926 on the Conte Rosso
15 Jul 1930 on the Conte Biancamano

Town of birth--comune of Santa Cristina d'Aspromonte - province: Reggio Calabria - region: Calabria

I'll post the manifests if Angela desires.

Thankyou so much Elizabeth and Biff. This information is relevant to me. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about digging further into the family tree? I'm new to this.

Hi Angela,

Glad we could help. First find a Family History Center (FHC) near you, I've provided the link
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Next take a look at the films you would like to view -
Here are the LDS films that pertain to your search
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... ato+civile++

Write down the film numbers that you'd like to look at for birth, death, marriages etc. and go to your FHC to order. The cost is about $3.75 per film and it will take 2 to 4 weeks to receive the films

Maybe Biff can post the manifests that he found too. Let us know if you need any help.
