I need to know where my roots orig came from, My great parents were Espositos, my Maiden name is Gentile, My father was born in NY. My Grandfather was Sam Gentile. I do not know alot so if anyone could help or lead me where I should go. I am really trying to find my grandfathers mother who has passed away, my father never knew her much. I believe she was ill. And never kept in touch with the family

Laura: Do you have any idea what year (estimate) that your grandparents were born. It is easier to begin if you can make certain assumptions about birth years. Do you know if they stayed in New York there whole lives? Any idea what year your grandmother died?

There is a third manifest for 1903 but when it comes up it's the wrong manifest.
Can you give any additional information about Sam? His wife's full name (maiden), childrens names, ages, if born in Italy or US. Sam's brothers or sisters full names etc. The more detail you can give, the easier it will be for people on the forum to jump in and help.
Sam can also be the Americanized version of Salvatore. There are many Salvatore Gentiles listed in NY in the census. Elizabeth is right. You need to give us more information. Both last names are common in many parts of Italy. An interesting thread on the name Esposito.
