Salvatrice Trigilio married Giuseppi Cipriano

Post by TIGER965 »

Lucia Ranno and Giovanni Trigilio had a daughter named Salvatrice(Theresa) born 17 November 1900,Melilli,Sicily,Italy came to America when she was 3 (1903) and arrived with her mother- Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Anna Ranno and Vincenzo Cipriano had a son named Giuseppi Cipriano born 2 June 1892, Augusta,Sicily, Italy. Entered through Canada then came into the U.S. through Buffalo

Salvatrice had the twins in the U.S., went back to Italy with her 2 children to have help from family with the children. There is an arrival of Salvatrice Trigilio back in the U.S. in 1924 with her first 3 children- Anna & Vincenzo (twins) and John.(born in Sicily,Italy)

Would I be able to have some help to find out where/when they all came to America? Could you help me find any Naturalization papers?
Thank you. :D

The census information on the Cipriano family seems to be correct, although the last name is spelled incorrectly and I never new my grandmother to be called Tessie

As for Salvatrice Ranno - this cannot be my grandmother who would be called Salvatrice Trigilio. Also in 1912 my grandmother would not be 37 yrs old, only 12. This is another Salvatrice!!!

The information on my grandfather's WWII card is correct - born in Augusta, Syracusa, 50 yrs old in 1942.
He did live on Rapelye, butI don't know who Grace Cipriano is.

I'll have to check into that 1907 manifest for Giuseppe Cipriano - I'll ask my mother about this and if she ever heard of Carmelo Spinali. I know that he lived with his best friend Carmelo D'Augusta when he came to the US

What was your grandmother called? Tessis is usually a nickname for Theresa, could work for Salvatrice as well. If someone filled out the WWII card for him they could have heard Grace instead of SalvaTRICE.

I posted that other manifest because I thought that it might be an aunt the Salvatrice was named after.

Also if you are still looking for Salvatrice's 1903 manifest, if she traveled with her mother, the record could be under Ranno because Italian women used their maiden names.

D'Augusta means from Augusta. Could Carmelo d' Agusta be a nickname for Carmelo Spinali?

~My grandmother was sometimes called Tessie, short for Salvatrice. I agree with the comment that they probably misheard the name.

I posted that other manifest because I thought that it might be an aunt the Salvatrice was named after.

~I did find a Salvatrice Ranno who arrived in 1912 at age 38. Therefore she could not be my grandmother who was born in 1900.

D'Augusta means from Augusta. Could Carmelo d' Agusta be a nickname for Carmelo Spinali?

~Carmelo D'Augusta was not Carmelo Spinali. Carmelo D'Augusta was my grandfather's younger friend, not his uncle. He came here several years after my grandfather. :D
