Cavazos
The last link Peter posted - I have had bookmarked for some time. My birth fathers name is Reuben Noe Cavazos. I was adopted as an infant.
Most Cavazos in the US/Mexico share a common ancestor; one Captain Juan Cavazos from Spain. Some references state his parents were from Italy. Cavazos and some of its variations are Sephardic Jew. There are tons of Cavazos here in TX, I currently live @ Fort Hood Texas. Many have roots traced back to Spain and Italy and Greece.
I have found this link and perhaps there is some truth here: http://www.traceit.com/cgi-bin/history type in Cavazos, it comes back as Italian origin. Go one click further and it says Cavazos is in medieval records in Bergamo Italy. Though other sites report ancient Spain.
I merely posted out of curiosty because many sources say one thing and others say something else.
