Are you looking for an Italian surname? Do you need more information about your family heritage?
This is the right place to start your genealogy search.
Can't find much information on this surname past Frank, died in 1977 (great-grandfather). Do not know much else except he came over from Sicily, stow away on a boat (so theres no record of him except death records) and stayed in Buffalo NY until his passing. But I obviously was looking for more in terms of other family members or information from/in Sicily. I really don't know much else unfortunately though this would obviously be a great help to my own search.
If anyone could tell me what location the name DiChristina came from or any little information, that'd be helpful. Thanks!
I susdpect the name is spelled Di C hristina and there is a grouping for this name in and around Palermo Sicily with others scattered on the Island into central and northern Italy as well but the concentration is palermo area,. Go to www.gerns.labo.net and just type in the last name upper left.
On the off chance he spoke of the oral history of his family in Sicily you might find a connection by going to www.paginebianche.it and putting in Di Cristina in the first line and PA (PA=Palermo province and palermo city as well) and 166 out of a total 200 some odd persons in Sicily surnamed di Cristina are there in Palermio rovince. Click CERCA and review the names and place for these people by towns, and villages since he may very well have come from a small town or village and you will recognize the name. =Peter=

Its no wonder I couldn't find any records, I was using the American spelling. Though I was told it wasn't changed. As long as it has career as a baker attached to it, thats definitely my family! lol... Thank you all.
I do also believe that John and Grace were the parents. I am not sure on that but the names of the sons are familiar to me.
Contrary to popular belief, not all Italian given names have Christian or classical roots. Many names encountered in older records are almost whimsical, and some cannot be translated into Latin or any other language. In order to avoid possible mistranscription of a given name with which the research...
