Maybe its Cala Rossa?
Trying to find Giovanni Sterlini who was born there in 1883 ish

CASAGRASSA hamleth of BARDI town( PARMA province).... you can ask the record of Vincenzo in Bardi civil record office:

Hi Elizabeth... it is Casagrassa... the Sterlini are-especially- in Bardi town, and in Casagrazza hamleth... Sterlini is a surname of Emilia Romagna region... I'm sure, and surely our friend can search the birthact
Italy, Parma, Bardi - Civil registration

Titles Registri dello stato civile di Bardi (Parma), 1806-1910 Bardi (Parma). Ufficio dello stato civile

Possible manifest for Giovanni. It is a bit of a mess, many pages, but quite legible. Make sure you go through all pages.

At first I thought this was going to be as simple as ordering a birth certificate.
Now this looks like its going to be a bit of a quest. 8O
Is there there a place I can just search for his name and order his birth certificate.

Sorry to be a pain, I am just not sure what to do? I have just worked out how to search and order certificates in the UK.

I just need a simple what to do first list and how to go about it.
Where can I search that Mirco Film?

Thanks

Brian: if you sure abt birthdate of your ancestor you can write and to ask the birth record... you have the right birthdate?

if you no sure abt birthdate, but you think that Giovanni is born around 1883, better to see the microfilms... if you can find some other infos by family rumor, as: father name or mother name, well you see the microfilms and when you find the record, you ask the certificate in Bardi...

I found Giovanni Sterlini in 1901 census he was 18 and says he was born in about 1883, I also have his marriage certificate from 1905 which say he was 19 which makes him born 1886.

His father was John Sterlini but on the marriage certificate it says sterlin not sterlini it is the right person.

On ancestry I found Giovanni Sterlini by chance because they put entry name in as Giovanni Sterline but when you look close you can see it says sterlini.

But I have no day or month of birth only a year? it looks like I may have to look at micro film, if I do where can I go to see these micro films you suggested?

Thanks

Brian

I believe that in Bardi they can make the search( or you by yourself in LDS microfilms) and you request the birthact for Giovanni STERLINI born in Bardi between 1883/6... and emigrated in UK... the problem instead is the name father.... also john( Giovanni..!) it is possible? you have also name mother...???

I do not know the mothers name, I only know his fathers name which is on the marriage certificate :( I hope this is enough information to get his birth certificate still.

Hi Brian,
I believe that in Casagrassa, between 1883/6 no many Giovanni was born, maybe only your ancestor... so you can send the request to Bardi maybe you can use this letter form:
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... /index.asp
abt the birthyear I believe that the record:
1901 Wales Census
about Giovanni Sterline
Name: Giovanni Sterline
Age in 1901: 18
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1883
Relation: Servant
Gender: Male
Where born: Cayagrossa, Italy

Civil Parish: Ystradyfodwg
Ecclesiastical parish: Ferndale Christchurch
County/Island: Glamorgan
Country: Wales

make sense abt the birthyear...
the marriage record:

England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index: 1837-1983
about Giovanni Sterlin
Name: Giovanni Sterlin
Year of Registration: 1905
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Pontypridd
County: Glamorgan, Mid Glamorgan
Volume: 11a

well I believe that he was more old of age 19...

if you have the death record also maybe you can have a better idea ... also maybe the first name of children can help you, because, normally the first son have the name of paternal grandfather, and first daughter paternal grandmother.. however I believe that you can write to Bardi...
