hello fellow tireless geneaologists...
i need your help.

her maiden name is Virginia CASTELLAN born 1938

her parents>>

MILANI, Maria, apparently born about 1913, Ramon Di Loria, Citadella
died abt 1950, apparently buried in Citadella cemetry (but this is a guess)

married to>>

CASTELLAN, Giobatta (or Giovanni Battista)
born about 1903, and died here in Australia in 1984.

both from and lived in Castella Di Godego, Treviso, Venezia

---

MARIA Milani's parents >>>
mothers name is Virginia (maybe) and the fathers name is unknown. they had 3 children incl Maria, Carolina & Francesco. there may be more. Francesco died in the war apparently. no b & d and all lived in Treviso. though its 'argued' MILANI is not from that area.

---

CASTELLAN, Giobatta's parents are >>>

CASTELLAN, Martino
unknown b & d

married to >>

RINALDI, Maria
unknown b & d

had 4 children, Giobatta, Maria, Rina & Agnese maybe more, and all lived in Treviso, and again its argued RINALDI is not from the area.

---

i dont know anymore about the MILANI or CASTELLAN or RINALDI family, and its mighty frustrating not exactly knowing where to start with such little information. ive searched all i can (for free), i guess i just need some fresh perspective and a kick in the right direction.

there are big gaps in my sons pedigree chart from my husbands side and i plan to fill it. my family, for the most, go back 8-9 generations and at least 7. lucky for me my family did most of the hard work before i took the baton.

Thankyou for your time...

Hi and welcome to the forum, :D

Your in-laws are not alone in their feelings, many of us have experienced this same attitude. Perhaps the events leading up to and including WWII were painful memories.

But the good news is that your quest is more recent and records may be better. Here are some sites that may offer some help.

http://www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/
http://en.comuni-italiani.it/026/013/index.html

http://italia.indettaglio.it/eng/veneto ... odego.html

You can see that Milani is the most common surname in the town 8O
