Beginning search

Post by rnatale »

Grandfather immigrated in 1884 from Italy Name Dominico Marino, all I have ever heard was that we have Genovase and Napolitan heritage. He was born in Italy in 1877. Where to begin, the ships logs dont show 1884 that I can find. I would like to know where he is from and what happened to his family.

Earlier ship manifest may not show specific town of origin,
however, you may be able to uncover this information thru
various other sources. Have you pulled all US documentation?
Was he naturalized? Checked cemetery and or obituary records?
Death certificate? Marriage applications? Church records?

you need to start with current information and work backwards. to get assistance at the very least you need to supply where he lived, was he married, if so, his wife's name, what was his trade?

all the above would be used to cross reference when there is more than one domenico marino and in this case there are quite a few.

help the helpers....simplify the task.

Thanks to all, I will try to get some more info, I know he married my grandmother in the US in Brooklyn NY. Jennie (Geovannini Capo) I don't know if he came over alone or with other family members. His parents were born in Italy. We never knew much about his side of the family

There are quite a few Dom. Marino's in Brooklyn.
Do you have his children's names?
Thanks!
