Sant'Agata, Catania
Sant'Agata, Catania
Would you interpret "S Agata, Catania" on an Ellis Island ship manifest to mean Sant'Agata li Battiati? I remember my grandfather mentioning Sant'Agata, but not "... li Battiati;" maybe the locals just called it Sant'Agata. The only other Sant'Agata I see in that area is in Messina.

Dear Nazca SANT'AGATA that I am referring to is "nelle strade di Messina, "has no comune status and is separate and apart from Sant'agata di Militello, (ME) which is a comune as you so rightly pointed out.
If you go to www.nonsolocap.it and just put in Sant'Agata you will see all 3 references to Sant'agata in Sicily. =Peter=
