How to research

Post by Brylee »

Ciao Tutti!
I am trying to find more info on my family and I am stuck. My great-grandparents (Rocco Maniaci and Cira Romano) from Sicily via ellis island on 8-13-1908. He is from Cinisi and we believe she is from Castellamare. They had 1 child in the US, but sadly he died and then they returned to Cinisi. My grandfather since has passed and no living relative remembers anything else. How could I get a copy of their marriage/birth or death certificate so that I may continue.
Any help is appreciated and suggestions are welcome.
Grazie!

you can connect with the town, address below.

Comune di Cinisi
Piazza V. Emanuele Orlando
90045 Cinisi PA

also try the italian phone directory. there are 32 listings for the surname.

good luck, j

Hi Brylee,

On the arrival manifest about Rocco and Maria you can see that he declared Cinisi (Palermo province) as place of birth, while she declared Alcamo (Trapani Province)
