John Gulielmo
John Gulielmo
My Great grandfather on my father's mother's side. I don't know much of anything about him. John Guglielmo married Salvatrice Gaglio on June 24 1933 in Kings County New York. In the US he changed his name to Williams. I am pretty sure he is Sicilian as that is was my grandmother says she is. That is all I know. I looked up the name on Gen and found that the name is everywhere, Messina is probably the best option. Any help finding any information on the Italian side would be very much appreciated.

In Italy the city, town or village of origin is where most birth, marriage and death records are located and obtained directly from the town or perhaps on micorfilm at your nearest Mormon church family history library.=Peter=
Re: John Gulielmo
A Giovanni Guglielmo came in USA in the 1906, aged 16, coming from Messina and joining at Stellario SPADARO uncle in New York...

a WWI draft registration card of a John Guglielmo living in Manhattan, show as birthdate the 27 aug 1890, born in Messina town... this birthdate... it could be the birthdate of your ancestor?

Re: John Gulielmo
When you view passenger #27 you clearly see NAPOLI but under Giovanni Guglielmo #14 you can see it is not Napoli but rather MESSINA written int he Gay 90's script with the second s being elongated and notice there is a dot over the word Messina indicating that there was an "i" beneath. =Peter=
Re: John Gulielmo
no, he was born in Messina and last residence was Messina... I read Messina and not NapoliTamberino wrote:Looks like it said he was Born in Naples

Re: John Gulielmo
Well it looks like it wasn't him anyhow, my grandmothers brother found his birth certificate. He was born in the US in 1913. His dad's name is Francesco, he came over Dec 3,1900 at the age of 22. The town he gave me I can't find. It was probably spelled wrong they told me Montalenglio. Anyone have an idea what town this could be. I am also being told he was from Campania not Sicilia.

Re: John Gulielmo
Thanks, I was always told they were from Naples. Piedmonte is nowhere near there.
Re: John Gulielmo
So he departed in Northern France?
