Attempting to Located a Birth Certificate from Italy

Post by kennyallie »

Hopefully someone can help. I am trying to locate a Birth Certificate from my Great Grandfather. His name is Carlo Schiano and he was born in Naples. We do not know what town. He was born abt 1876. His fathers name was Antonio Schiano and His mother was Angelina DeBiase. Immigrated to NY arounf 1911. Any help is appreciated.

Have you located a ship manifest? Did he naturalize?
Both of these could list the exact town of origin.

There is no carlo Schiano on Ellisisland.org website but there is one who should have been considered arriving on June 28, 1906 on the SS Italia and listed as being 38 years of age (born 1868) and in agriculture. =Peter==

He lived in NYC, and had a wife named Filomena Picarillo. We have the marriage certificate, death certificate, and a letter from Homeland Security that he was never naturalized in USA. We need to find the birth cert. We just can't find what town he was from. We know that he left from Naples. Thanks All for your help

If you state that you have his marriage certificate and death certificate why do you say he was born "ABOUT" 1876???? You should be able to state the exact uyear of birth from those documents unless they specifically say "About" before the year of birth or age on the documents you mention. =Peter=

this Carlo imm. in 1910; Fanny in 1914.. also Raffaele and Alda children.. Perhaps Fanny married 2 times...? On ancestry a Carlo Schiano married at a Filomena, living in Manhattan, with a daughter Angelina seeming coming from Naples, but the birthsurname of Filomena is not Picariello, but Manfra... So I think: It is possible that Carlo Schiano married at Filomena widow and with 2 children...?
what are your suggestions?

Filomena came here in 1902 with her first husband Constintino and then went back to Italy to bury him when he died. She then returned in 1908, and then married Carlo in 1914. We are now finding out that Carlo might have arrived in Boston-NOT New York around 1910. This is driving me crazy. One of the documents that we have state that he arrived on the Santa Anna. Thanks Again Everyone
