Family Names Rosetta, Romanda and Scribante

Hello - I'm very new at this. I've been trying to track down my ancesters who came to America from Milan. The is no information available online that I'm aware of for them. While my mother's family is very easily traced, my father's family can't be found.

Has anyone heard of these family names? And if so, what do you know of them?

The only infor I have is that they all settled in Lexington, Missouri. They all died and were buried there. I know this from my personal history and visiting the cemetery. However, aside from the Ellis Island info, there is no internet record of any of these people or ancestors before them, (that I can find).

In Italy most records are located in thecity,town or village of origin. If you know that everything opens up to you.

Also, I don't know how to spell the town - something like Brusnengo?

You spelled the town correctly BRUSNENGO and if you go to www.nonsolocap.it and type in the name on top and click cerca you will see the zip code, the town name, and the Province in which brusnengo is located. If you clickon the Brusnengo word a website will come for the town itself along with additonal information about the town.

If you gio to www.paginebianche.it and insert the name in the frist line and Brusnengo and click CERCA you may find all the persons in Brusnengo with that surname, address and telephone number. Do the same for the remaining names.

There might be micorfilm for the births.,marriages and towns onmicorfilm at your nearest Family History Library (www.familysearch.org) where you can rent out the micrfoilm for a modest $5.00. I will check and let you know if they exist./ =Peter=

Yes Brusnengo is listed under Vercelli micorfilms at the FHL for all births,marriages and deaths from 1795 to 1920.. The website www.familysearch.org will give you the library nearest your home. Please obtain the companion book for the films Discovering Your Italian Ancestors by Lynn Nelson and a magnifying glass for close inspection of the hand written entries. =Peter=

OK - I just got that whole different spelling thing. I was always told that it was Brusnengo - and that it was in Milan.

Milano could be searched by City, not comune (such as Busnago because the Family Search site does not recognize that comune).

Pete, not to worry. I am sure there are others who have bigger problems than you ! If small keys and fat fingers are all you have to worry about then I say you have NOTHING to fear.

I was just thinking..the two comuni are about 2 hours away from each other. What are the chances they changed boundaries?

I am not very good with this type of thing but I'm curious.

Yes I thinks so since Stato civile recordsfor Brusnengo are housed in Vercelli but the province is currently Biella. There was another province carved out as well which is Verbania in the Piemonte region. =Peter=
