Looking for Antonio Nazzaro

Post by legnoduro »

Hello,
I am trying to find a manifest for Antonio Nazzaro. He arrived in New York in 1907 according to the 1910 census. He lived in Newark, NJ in 1911. He was from Calitri or maybe Deliceto. He was born in about 1886. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Valarie,
Thank you for the image. If he answered the census questions accurately then the arrival can't be 1904 and his birth can't be 1889 but I don't know how the questions were asked and in what language. He was my grandfather's cousin and the person my grandfather named as the relative to be joined in Newark when my grandfather arrived in 1911. I am now researching the name Vincenzo Di Francesco, the uncle named by Antonio, to see if there is a connection. I am also amazed that a 14 year old child would have a profession, especially a barber.
Thank you again,
Joseph

Children were apprenticed early in europe so they could learn a trade and eke out a living. They started out by helping out by sweeeping, cleaning and washing things up and running errands and slowly learned how to cut hair by watching and practicing on their brothers and sisters. =Peter=
