Help finding a Missing Person

Post by Tamberino »

I have a problem, my great grandmother had a brother Luigi Mignozzi who came to America with the family, got married, committed a crime and was deported back to Italy; where he married again a had children. I have found the children he had in Italy and from them found out that he had a child here in the US. No one knew anything about it, my bisnonna never talked about him, they even forgot that Luigi existed much less the daughter. He married a Antoinetta Colorea on Nov 23 1918 in Manhattan. I can't find any information on their child. I believe her name was Elena.
Any information will be helpful.

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Marcello Caroleo
Name: Marcello Caroleo
Arrival Date: 11 May 1895
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1878
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian
Ship Name: Bothnia
Search Ship Database: View the Bothnia in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Line: 23
Microfilm Serial: M237
Microfilm Roll: M237_640

We don't think that Coloreo was the real italian last name, possible it was mispelled in the U.S....
Perhaps it could have been Calarco, Calarchi, or Caroleo, Carolei

Maybe the 1910 census could help understand Antonietta's correct last name?

1910 United States Federal Census
about Marcell Correlelo
Name: Marcell Correlelo
[Marcello Correlelo]
Age in 1910: 33
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1877
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Spouse's Name: Maggie
Home in 1910: Manhattan Ward 14, New York, New York
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1894
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Marcell Correlelo 33 head
Maggie Correlelo 32 wife
Antoinette Correlelo 10 daughter
Rosie Correlelo 8 daughter
Tony Correlelo 5 son
Mary Correlelo 1 1/12 daughter

[img=http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/275/ ... qy4.th.jpg]

so, I think it's possible the correct last name was Caroleo:

Hi Tamberino,

As there is no trace of an Eleanor Mignozzi in the Social Security Death Index it's possible she get married and if we don't know her husband's last name is impossible to find her....
But, as the Coloreo living in Brooklyn are just a few, maybe trying to contact them could be helpful, sure they are Eleanor Relatives...
It could be helpful too to find Anthony (death date April 14, 1989 in Brooklyn) or Michelina Coloreo (death date feb 1971 in Brooklyn) obituaries because they can list Eleanor with her husband's last name....
I checked Ancestry.com with no luck, but maybe some other members can help you...
However I'm sending you a private message with the Coloreo I found on the database U.S. Public Records on Ancestry...
You can try also with the Coloreo listed on the Whitepages (only 5 persons in all NY State)
Good luck for your search, and if you'll be able to find Eleanor please let us know!
