Looking for 1920 Census Information

Post by JoeC »

Hi -

I'm having trouble finding some ancestors on the 1920 census. I was able to find them on the 1910 census. Their names are Saverio and Maddalina Macaluso. In the database I was searching (HeritageQuest), their surname was transcribed as Macaluss. They had one son on the 1910 census, which I believe is my wife's grandfather. The name on the census looks like Magro, but we knew him as Charles. By 1920, there should have been several other children, Jennifer, Grace, Mary, and Joe. They lived in Essex County, Newark, New Jersey, I believe.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks -
Joe

Laura -

What is the surname for Saverio on the 1930 census? Either HeritageQuest doesn't have the image available, or I'm not looking for the correct thing. Is it possible to search for census information if you know the street name, city, etc?

As always, thank you!

Joe,

Heritage Quest does not have all the 1930 census downloaded yet  . I don't think NJ is available yet. If you have access to a library, you can use the Library e\Edition of Ancestry. The good thing about Heritagege Quest is that you can use it at home, but I too have had problems with the 1930 census.
