Osmetti

Post by nosmetti »

Searching a Giovanni Osmetti who married a Catherine Juana (or Tuana) from Grosotto, Italy. There son (my great grandfather Charles) lived, worked and died in Boulder, Western Australia.

Grosotto, 23034, province of Sondrio, Lombardia region has civil records for Births, marriages and deaths from 1866 to 1929. Since you did not indicate any dates (assuming you are not aware of any dates) thenyou can go to your nearest Mormon Family History Library (www.familysearch.org for location nearest you) and rent out the microfilm of these records. Brin g along a book titled Discovering YourItalian Ancestors by Lynn Nelson which is a companion book for the films.

On the other hand if you left out dates and can furnish either a date and year, a year specific or approximate years then you can write to the Uffico di Stato Civile in Grosotto by sending a form letter in Italian language found at http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html requesting wthe documents of choice which are free of charge

If you go to www.nonsolocap.it and put in Grosotto and then click on the Grosoto name when it appears a website will come up and scroll down to Municipio for the address in Grosotto and if you shift to the right there is an www for the tourist site for grosotto as well. =Peter=

I do not want to overlook the obvious and wish to mention to you that there is a similar named Comune GROSSETO 58100 (Grosseto is a provincial capital) in the Toscana region with civil records dating from 1809 to 1865. The www.paginebianche.it for Lombardia indicates numerous listings for Osmetti making Grosotto the town of choice.

If perchance this is the town of origin you are talking about then follow thru with the same directions furnished above. =Peter=
